Through The Fog

Through the fog

Lately, it feels like I’m wandering through a dense fog, with more downs than ups crowding my path. The horizon seems to blur, and envisioning a future feels less like a possibility and more like an absurdity. It’s as if I’m trying to rewrite a narrative that’s been firmly etched in my heart—an impossible task when the ink is still wet with pain.

This overwhelming turmoil shakes me to the core. I can’t wrap my head around how a world can exist where injustices like mine happen, and how those who stand witness often remain indifferent. It feels like a personal attack, a shadow that lingers, whispering messages of doubt and fear that only serve to exacerbate my struggles.

Yet, amidst all this chaos, there was hope this week—the dinner I shared with a good friend and cherished nursing mentor of ten years. As we sat across the table, her energy filled the space, a reminder that connection still exists, even in the darkest of times.

We talked about my experience at the hospital and the distressing moments that followed, including the unfounded criminal charges that have weighed on me. She listened intently, her understanding deepened by her own experiences, allowing her to recognize the shortcomings in care that I had faced.

Her validation was a soothing comfort to my wounded spirit. With each word, she assured me that none of this was my fault and expressed a genuine desire to support me in any way possible. Knowing that she stands ready to appear before the board of nursing on my behalf, should the need arise, sparks a flicker of hope within me.

I feel truly grateful for her empathy and support. In a profession sometimes racked with indifference, she exemplifies the true essence of nursing. She is the presence I needed during that dark night at the hospital—the compassionate care I should have received but didn’t.

With her by my side, I understand that I am not alone in this struggle. While the road ahead remains uncertain, I am reminded that healing is not just about navigating this journey on my own; it’s also about the strength found in the connections we build along the way.

As I close this entry, I hold onto the hope that one day I will emerge from this fog, reshaped yet resilient, carrying the lessons learned—not just from the hardship but from the genuine support of those who truly care.
